Certificate Program: Biodynamic Farming and Gardening
The following information are the links to the course modules as per Certificate Program course matrix.
Module Title: Biodynamic System Management
103: Resources to Enhance Terrestrial and Cosmic Processes
Unit One
Prepare to Use the Biodynamic Preparations
Unit Description
This unit requires establishing supplies for all of the biodynamic preparations. It involves creating a suitable storage box for the preparations and using suitable storing conditions for all of the biodynamic preparations. This unit also involves sourcing the best quality water to use for stirring the biodynamic preparations. It also requires using a suitable container for stirring the preparations and developing a good stirring technique.
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to source supplies for all the biodynamic preparations, maintain optimum conditions for the storage of the preparations, select the most suitable water to use when stirring the preparations and develop a good stirring technique.
Unit Two
Prepare to Use BD500
Unit Description
This unit requires defining the land area for applying BD500 and calculating the amount of water and quantity of BD500 which will be required. It involves organising the equipment required to heat the water and stir and apply BD500.
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to source the equipment required for stirring and applying BD500, calibrate the equipment to achieve the correct application rate and calculate the amount of BD500 required for each batch of BD500 to be sprayed.
Unit Three
Prepare to Use BD501
Unit Description
This unit requires selecting the land area for applying BD501 and calculating the amount of water and quantity of BD501 which will be required. It involves organising the equipment required to heat the water and stir and apply BD501.
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to source the equipment required for stirring and applying BD501, calibrate the equipment to achieve the correct application rate and calculate the amount of BD501 required for each batch of BD501 to be sprayed.
Unit Four
Make Biodynamic Compost
Unit Description
This purpose of this unit is to establish the resources and develop the skills required to make compost in accordance with biodynamic guidelines.
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to select a suitable site, gather materials for composting, prepare the site, build a biodynamic compost, monitor the composting process and identify when the compost is ready to use.
Unit Five
Develop Resources to Enhance Biological Processes
Unit Description
This unit involves making biological mediums to enhance biodynamic processes and nutrient cycles on the site.
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to select suitable ingredients and make biodynamic liquid manure and manure concentrate.
